PDS Tech Inc IT Business Analyst IV in Anchorage, Alaska


The GGRE Solution Analyst is accountable for delivering technical app and data integration solutions and support to the geoscientists community. The position is aligned with strategic direction of the Regional Application and Data architect; works with Business Analyst, Corporate Leverage Services, Vendors, Infrastructure, and Project Manager. Serves as a

primary technical contact for design, development and implementation activities and often utilizes teams of subject matter experts in certain technologies to accomplish an effort. While a Solutions Analyst works in the details of technology, the position also requires a very broad and encompassing view of information technology in an organization. The position will report to the Alaska Supervisor and IT Business Partner, Exploration and North Slope Development and located in Anchorage, AK.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Business Analyst activities; recommend and implement IT solutions to improve business process performance while

conforms to COP technology strategy, data, and application security standards

  • Primary technical contact during the life of the effort (Proof of Concept, Troubleshooting, Support, Issue Resolution,

Integration, and Implementation)

  • Understand and learn new technologies to deliver innovative solutions

  • Understand user requirements around technical data, interaction of data between systems and system dependencies to

ensure high levels of data consistency, quality, and accuracy in a reliable, timely, and effective manner

  • Determine and communicate impact, status, and time to resolution for on-going Data and Application support

  • Owns testing and cut-over plan for Maintenance/Upgrades

  • Owns Operational Readiness Assessment and Review

  • Vendor Support Integration

  • Network with the global technical data community and assist with implementing the global data management strategy

and the feedback loop

  • Manage maintenance and improvement of GGRE in-house developed data integration scripts, support integration of data

into data flows which facilitate standard Geoscience interpretation workflows

  • Provide technical and architectural consultation to meet business needs


  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Geoscience, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

  • 5+ years of Petroleum industry experience

  • 5+ years of experience in an Information Technology / Information System role

  • 5+ years of experience as programmer in any of the following programming languages: Perl, Python, Oracle, Visual

Basic, .NET Visual Studio and Java, SQL-PL and SQL skills. Experience with scripting languages (Perl/UNIX)

  • 3+ years of experience in technical role designing and managing data systems

  • 3+ years of experience of relational data models, query access and data integrity checking. Direct experience with

Oracle, SQL server or Access using various data manipulation tools and data mining


  • Knowledge within the Oil & Gas industry - prior drilling and wells and North Slope operations working/business


  • Strong knowledge of Exploration and Production (E&P) workflows, data types in relationship with work practices gained

through working in the subsurface, well engineering or production domain

  • Familiarity with basic data integration principles and processes

  • Sound knowledge of Linux operating system

  • Able to work independently without close supervision and follows through on commitments

  • Ability to plan, lead and deliver technical data integration projects

  • Proven record of good leadership, mentoring and influencing skills

  • Ability to work under rigid time constraints

  • Working knowledge of Agile programming and deployment methodologies

  • Working knowledge as Business Analyst and Solution Integrator

  • Problem solving skills with the ability to quickly analyze and apply logic to create solutions for end users

  • Strong written skills to proactively maintain/create documentation

  • Listens actively and invites dialogue to gain a shared understanding, then influences and acts to drive performance and

achieve business goals
