PDS Tech Inc Saw Operator-1st shift in Appleton, Wisconsin
This is an entry-level position in the shop. Performs receipt, storage and inventory of steel. Uses appropriate saws and other machinery to cut pieces to length and prepare them for machining, weld and assembly.
Sets up and operates a variety of cutting tools such as band saw, circular saw, friction saws, shear and brake press. Operates forklift, pallet jack, hoist, and overhead crane to aid in the safe handling of raw materials and fabricated parts.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and is responsible to unload incoming steel and miscellaneous freight.
Identifies raw materials by the bill of materials. Responsible for the timely flow of parts from the saw to fabrication. Responsible for keeping inventory of raw steel for Materials Department.
Displays knowledge of machine shop operations, to assist in areas as needed. Possesses basic set of hand tools to perform daily routines.
Responsible to meet ISO quality standards, which require individuals to take responsibility for their own quality, verify their work is correct and then affix their signature to the appropriate documentation (i.e., drawing, checklist, etc.).
Uses ERP system to enter time spent working on fab parts. Follows Company's requirements to move and production-receipt work orders. Completes all paperwork.
Some machine shop experience or training is beneficial. Requires ability to follow directions and take directives from others. Requires knowledge of saw, circular saw and friction saw operation, to cut metal stock to dimension as required per blueprint drawings. Must have knowledge of shear and brake press for sheet metal. Requires ability to read blueprints. Must work as part of a team. Position requires a quality conscious, industrious individual who pays attention to detail. Must operate a variety of hand tools required to perform daily routine. Requires ability to lift 50 pounds or greater.
