PDS Tech Inc Technical Service Representative - Gas in Appleton, Wisconsin

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

An Associate's Degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology or equivalent experience or training in engineering, sales or technical service. An extensive working knowledge of gas compressors, high pressure gas systems, electrical systems and electrical trouble-shooting experience. A sound mechanical aptitude. Ability to apply his/her electrical and mechanical knowledge to sufficiently understand, explain and modify the total functions, limitations or adaptations of CMD equipment. Familiarity with a 24-hour-per-day operation, preferably with gas compression and high-pressure-related equipment. Must have professional appearance and a pleasant personality. Ability to work under stressful conditions including interruptions, heavy information flow and changes in job task priority. Ability to think creatively and innovatively. Willingness to travel on extended visits of multiple weeks possible. Ability to work harmoniously with fellow employees, customers, and vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Responsible for supervising equipment installation and start-up at customer locations. Develops and implements a customer training program sufficient to assure continued operation and customer satisfaction after field technician leaves customer site. Makes routine service trips to customer sites at request of supervisor. Keeps detailed notes from service trips, and distributes trip reports appropriately.

  2. Travels to customer sites, to troubleshoot equipment and process problems. Utilizes analytical skills to determine root causes of failures and malfunctions. Recommends and implements corrective actions.

  3. Travels to customer sites to perform preventive maintenance activities. Records and documents site conditions to proactively mitigate unplanned shutdowns. Recommends and implements corrective actions.

  4. When not traveling, provides technical phone support and troubleshooting for customers. Documents customer phone activity in call center database. Contacts and dispatches third-party service providers, as needed. Follows up with customers to verify resolution of problems. Provides 24-hour technical assistance to customers on a rotational basis, including regular weekend and holiday work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Continued)

  1. Performs check-out of equipment prior to shipping. Objective is to verify that machinery will run safely and according to customer specifications.

  2. When not traveling, facilitates the sales effort when technical assistance is required, (e.g., in-house machinery demonstrations). Will also perform the assembly of new products, as required. Assists with equipment operation at national and international trade shows.

  3. Assists with R&D and other special projects as required. Provides technical advice and assistance to other departments.

  4. Must be totally proficient with equipment operation including programs, troubleshooting, maintenance, operation and applications.

  5. Responsible for training new service technicians and third-party contractors.

  6. Visibly supports "lean" and other process improvement activities. Participates in rapid improvement events. Applies continuous improvement practices to one's job. Supports transition activities, as required. Maintains an open mind throughout the change process. Works with others to continuously fuel improvement throughout the Company.

  7. Contributes to core competencies of Market Intelligence and Product Development by gathering and reporting all relevant information. This includes: customer needs/wants/activities; and competitive information.

  8. Responsible for own safety. Practices only safe work habits and ensures all safety rules are followed. Responsible to keep area clean and organized to ensure safe working conditions.
