PDS Tech Inc Validation Technician in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan

PDS Tech Inc., is seeking a Validation Technician in Troy, MI.

Overview

Maintain, update laboratory equipment to insure continuous operation of client’s laboratory testing. Assist / Perform laboratory tests, including set-up, monitoring, measurement, data collection and reporting under guidance of lab Engineers in a test laboratory.

Responsibilities

Laboratory maintenance and updates

● Organize the calibration of the Environment lab equipment.

● Standardize the Test Bench set-up to facilitate usage and improve maintenance.

● Create a controlled database for all the test benches, including BOM, Software rev level.

● Work with Methods & Tools (M&T) team to develop test environment solutions to enable Design & Process Validation (DV/PV)

● Contribute to the improvement of the laboratory’s tools such as: Instruction sheets, logs, development and validation tools, process automation.

● Minimize test cycle times.

● Input to work instructions for test houses to enable efficient transfer of test equipment

● Support building and implementation of robust and efficient automated test benches

Laboratory testing

● Realize the test (electrical, mechanical, environmental, reliability) in the standard time and in line with the instruction sheet (test specification)

● In case of difficulty, try to solve it by him/or herself or with support if needed (team leader, validation dept manager, validation engineer, project team member…). Apply the QRQC methodology

● Input into writing of the test report taking into account the real test conditions, use pictures for more comprehension.

● Contribute to product problems solving, support 5W2H / PDCA.

● Police parts logistics and correct archive the parts after test (bags, labels, boxes, pallets).

● Coordinate planning for the planned testing and allocated resources (chambers, tools, benches,…).

● Coordinate the specific tools needed for the validation (test specification and follow-up) whenever they are done inside client’s or external to them.

● Carry out all work to comply with Quality Management System and Validation Engineering Processes e.g. ASPICE, ISO/IATF16949.

● Execution of testing using lab equipment (using thermal chambers, IPx) as per test specification.

● Safety focussed and dedicated to maintaining high quality standards.

● Report testing status to the val engineer responsible on a regular basis (QRQC, 5mm…)

● Contribute to test reports, peer-reviews of data and follow up

● Participate in lessons learned across the various projects

● Coordinate logistics of test racks from & to client’s laboratory and other laboratories worldwide.

● Track all equipment sent off site ie Tracking number to be kept on file

Requirements

  • Must have an Associate Technological Sciences or equivalent education and solid automotive testing experience.

  • Min 5 years experience and knowledge of test & validation methods in the automotive industry Knowledge of automotive electronics systems Proficient with MS Office / Google Suite. Desirable: - Basic knowledge in National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand software - Certified LabVIEW - Basic knowledge instrumentation interfacing over PXI, PCI, USB, RS232 & GPIB

  • Basic knowledge in hardware and peripherals - Ability to read, analyse and interpret complex documents /schematics.

  • Basic knowledge of automotive electronics systems - Validation experience with knowledge of test & validation methods

  • Basic knowledge of accelerated life testing

  • Basic knowledge of IATF 16949
