Our customer is a world leader in automotive service equipment, offering state-of-the-art wheel alignment systems, wheel balancers, lift racks and more. They are currently seeking a Production Buyer for their purchasing operations.
As a Buyer , you will be responsible for all aspects of production parts for our four manufacturing plants in St. Louis, Missouri and in Mississippi. You will oversee the entire commodity from vendor selection through following up on quality and delivery issues. Your decisions will consider quality, price, lead-time, vendor capabilities. Information (such as inventory and quality) is displayed graphically so that you can quickly understand the situation. The purchasing department uses advanced tools that make the daily tasks quick and easy, so that you can concentrate your efforts on value added activities such as lowering total cost of ownership, improving quality and delivery metrics. The location for this position will be at the company headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri.
Overall responsibility for respective commodity area and supply base.
Purchase required parts and materials for production at multiple locations to assure on-time delivery at superior levels of quality, price, and supplier support.
Lead and facilitate the strategic source selection and approval process, carefully monitoring supply base for opportunities.
Keep current on industry-wide pricing trends, technological innovations, and overall market conditions through research and effective supplier interaction.
Identify, quote, and award bid packages based on Total Cost of Ownership.
Work closely with vendors by conducting on-site production facility audits and quarterly performance reviews to support exceptional supplier management.
Review and analyze quality metrics to implement appropriate corrective actions with suppliers.
Promote lean initiatives through proper inventory analysis, strategic material acquisition, and effective delivery management.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
0 to 3 years’ supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proven drive to succeed.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office. Advanced Excel skills a plus.
Working knowledge of purchasing systems and procedures.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, etc.
