PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Hardware Systems Validation Engineer in Cupertino, CA.
Seeking an electrical engineer for MacBook Pro electrical & system integration and validation. The candidate will characterize, test, and debug the electrical subsystem of the world’s best professional notebook computers within a collaborative cross-functional team.
Our engineers rely on skills in computer system architecture, schematic design, digital and analog circuits, power and voltage regulator integration, high speed signal integrity concepts, PCB design, bring up and system level troubleshooting to surprise and delight millions of customers.
Analyze component data sheets and electrical requirements. Use advanced lab tools such as 25 GHz oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and BERT scopes to judge the quality and robustness of electrical designs.
Evaluate proposed software or firmware changes to gauge their impact on hardware performance or bug resolution
Assist with system issue debug by reproducing reported failures and collecting logs, measurements, or protocol analyzer traces
Parsing and summarize data from large-scale factory experiments to judge design margins across a wide population of hardware
Characterize and validate System EE design
Minimum 5 years relevant industry experience. High-volume consumer electronics system experience preferred.
BS in electrical or computer engineering required
Lab skills: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, electronic loads, probing techniques. Basic surface mount component solder rework ability
Experience with schematic and PCB physical design tools to interpret the design and locate physical probe points.
Experience with high-speed USB physical layer compliance testing is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Command line interface experience and scripting skills are preferred
Specific deep expertise in several of the following areas is a plus: CPU or GPU microarchitecture, batteries, power management, analog design, audio, wireless, DisplayPort, PCIe, Thunderbolt, USB, SPI, I2C, UART, analog sensors, interconnect
