PDS Tech Inc HVAC Performance Testing Technician in East Syracuse, New York

PDS Tech is seeking an HVAC Performance Testing Technician for an open position in East Syracuse NY. There is strong potential that this position will convert from Temporary to Permanent within 3 months.

The ideal candidate will support various duties such as calibration, maintenance, installation and repair of Test Facilities Instrumentation, including computer-based data acquisition systems. The work is either done in the Test Facilities or on bench in a workshop environment.


The Technician will run performance testing on HVAC equipment according to the ASHRAE / UL standards to support the HVAC Commercial Engineering team in Syracuse, NY. This includes setting up, instrumenting, and testing of rooftop units.


  • Fabricate and assemble testing apparatuses to support testing and development of commercial HVAC products.

  • Accurately record and document test data utilizing data systems and database.

  • Perform electrical and mechanical modifications to test units and components.

  • Learn HVAC product certification standards.

  • Calibrate test equipment.

  • Troubleshoot units or instrumentation issues.


AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) or 2 years’ relevant experience.


  • Two years HVAC or machine shop experience.

  • Good understand of basic electrical wiring.

  • Experience working with combustible and pressurized gasses.

  • Experience with basic hand and power tools, and other electrical equipment.

  • Proficiency in brazing preferred.

  • Ability to read and understand test assignments.

  • Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to communicate effectively, follow oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to write clear, concise, and consistent emails.

  • Strong safety record.

  • Ability to multitask and shift priorities with very short notice.

Physical requirements: lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
