PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Machinist, in Grand Prairie TX.
Looking for a Machinist/Wind Tunnel Operator to manufacture and test scale models of missiles, rockets, and other aerospace vehicles in a Mach 5, supersonic wind tunnel, reaching speeds up to 3,800 MPH.
As a Machinist/Operator you will serve various internal and external customers through precise fabrication and flawless test execution to develop cutting-edge, high-performance aerospace vehicles in a multi-disciplinary role.
Machining work involves fabricating new model parts and modifying existing models to high tolerances, creating replacement parts for the facility, and building tools to help us work more efficiently and effectively.
Operator duties include setting up models for testing, performing model changes during testing, operating the wind tunnel and air compressor control systems, and performing maintenance on an assortment of mechanical systems with lots of variety in tasks.
Work involves everything from #0-80 screws to 6” diameter, 11’ long studs.
Within minutes you may be called to go from making small precise adjustments to lifting a 55-ton structure with the overhead crane.
Must sit onsite at the facility.
Must be USC.
Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.
Ability to work overtime.
Ability to support night shift operations as needed.
Minimum 10 years experience with shop machines such as lathes and milling machines.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
Ability to independently edit, program, set up and run CNC and conventional machines.
Minimal restrictions to physical activity.
Computerized Numerical Control machining training or related experience. Familiarity with Fanuc controls.
Understanding of NC machine codes and able to troubleshoot programs.
Knowledge of machining speeds and feeds. Know proper use and selection of different inserts, cutting tools and tooling geometries.
Able to verify conformance of machined workpiece to specifications using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and various gauges.
Strong blueprint reading experience.
Able to use the overhead hoist and pallet jacks and follow all safety procedures.
Able to work safely with coolants, cleaning chemicals and solvents.
Able to work 2nd shift as needed, and work OT if necessary.
