PDS Tech Inc Tooling Engineer - SECRET in Hazelwood, Missouri

Role Purpose

Direct support of the manufacturing process with technical responsibility for tooling, part fabrication, assembly and delivery. Provide "state of the art" processing technology as it applies to both materials and techniques for tooling, part fabrication and assembly.

  • Manufacturing Engineer with Tooling experience

  • Must have excellent problem identification and resolution experience

  • Must be willing to work extensively on the production floor in support of tooling group

  • Must have Active Secret Clearance

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently develops approach to solutions requiring approval.

  • Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.

  • May provide support and guidance to less experienced Production Engineers.

  • Responsible for ensuring parts, assemblies, and tools meet industry standards and customer requirements.

  • Resolve issues pertaining to vendor schedule and/or quality.

  • Utilize root cause analysis and corrective action to reduce/eliminate nonconformances.

  • Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.

  • Accountable for product development, new product quotes, tool fabrication quotes, first article development, configuration changes that involve cost estimation, schedule coordination, build process definition, and implementation.

  • Responsible for disposition and follow up on nonconforming materials, detail parts or assemblies as an Engineering member of Material Review Board.

  • Responsible for the implementation of tooling and or production planning, from original concept through to production. Responsible to validate the tooling functionality and or part conformity, and production part quality in timely manner to support the customer delivery schedule.

  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance.

  • Performs other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Education

B.S. degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred and/or a combination of seven to ten years of education and relevant experience in lieu of degree.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A minimum of four years of experience with a minimum of two years of manufacturing support experience.

  • Requires a thorough knowledge of multiple engineering applications and manufacturing procedures.

  • Has knowledge of relevant technology and is able to operate unassisted on routine tasks.

  • Must possess effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to spend long hours sitting at a work stations and using office equipment.

  • Frequently required to spend long hours walking and standing on the production floor

  • May be required to walk or stand for brief periods

  • May be required to use stairs when elevator is not available

  • Must occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move up to 25 pounds of office supplies and materials

  • May be required to reach with arms and hands and to stoop, kneel or crouch
