PDS Tech Inc Supplier Quality Assurance Specialist in Huntington Beach, California

PDS Tech is seeking a Supplier Quality Assurance Specialist, in Huntington Beach, CA.

Job Summary:

Design, develop, and implement strategies to improve supplier quality performance in a sustainable way. Identify and mitigate any quality related risk. Ensure quality and cost effectiveness of materials by deploying processes capability tools and continuous improvement projects. This position reports to the Supplier Quality Manager in the Supply Chain division.

Summary of Duties:

  • FAI review (First Article Review): Check the FAI Reports sent by the suppliers: Validate or reject the FAI. Work with the suppliers to make it right first time. Support the FAI Burndown project: 300 FAIR open currently, Target: Reduce to 30-50 FAIR / Reduce the FAI acceptance process lead time to <7 days / FAI FPY > 80%.

  • Develop a training plan to help suppliers improving their FAI First Pass Yield process

  • E1 Customer Complaints: Tackle the suppliers Root Cause / Corrective Actions for the Embraer Notification Of Escapes. Be the liaison between the program QE in Cypress and the suppliers. 56 opened currently, Target : <5 / Reduce the RCCA complete process lead time < 60 days

  • Formalize a standard process to manage the E1 customer complaints on the supplier side.

  • Work in collaboration with other supplier management departments : procurement, engineering, commodity management and SPM

  • Measure the supplier quality performance (KPI). Investigate and manage supplier non-conforming issues and related roots causes analysis to implement sustainable corrective actions (5Whys, 8D)

  • Follow up on corrective actions (CAR) with suppliers

  • Alert / Escalate the risks or blocking points encountered during the 3 months project period

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronic, Composite or Industrial Engineering or equivalent education or experience.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive quality experience in aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing environment

Other Skills:

  • Problem solving and quality expert: Pareto, A3, 8D, 5 whys, Ishikawa, DMAIC…

  • Basic understanding of material management

  • Understanding of Lean principles

  • Basic understanding of process manufacturing management (SPC, special processes) and project management

  • AS/EN/JISQ 9100 Knowledge

  • Supplier auditor qualified

  • QRQC

  • Basic understanding of Lean principles

  • FMEA and Control plan

Preferred Qualifications

  • Black/green belt 6 sigma training

  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification with AS/EN/JISQ 9100 training
