PDS Tech Inc Manufacturing Engineer (2nd shift) in Indianapolis, Indiana

PDS Tech is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (2 nd shift) for an open position in Indianapolis IN. The shift will be 5:00 pm – 3:30 am. It will most likely be 6 days per week.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Manage high complexity design and planning of layout for assembly and materials handling.

  • Adapt machines or equipment design to factory and production conditions.

  • Plan sequence of operations and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

This is a true manufacturing engineering role. This individual will be on the floor responding to equipment issues, etc.


This position is responsible for troubleshooting, modifying and acquiring equipment and tooling in a fast paced, high volume assembly and manufacturing environment.

Specific responsibilities for this position include:

  • Troubleshooting equipment and tooling issues; providing technical support to maintenance, tool room and production, as requested

  • Recommend, specify and implement preventive maintenance procedures

  • Plan, coordinate and implement repairs, modifications and improvements to equipment and tooling

  • Utilize maintenance and tooling management system, purchase order system and various other planning systems.

  • Model and promote adherence to environmental, health and safety policies and initiatives

  • Lead union-represented hourly associates in project and troubleshooting activities


  • AA/AS degree w/ 1-3+ years’ experience

  • BA/BS degree w/ 0-2+ years’ experience


  • Experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. High speed assembly preferred

  • Experience with A/B Control Logix 5000, Siemens S7 PLC’s, various VFD motor controls required

  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic controls

  • Stamping press and/or tooling troubleshooting experience preferred

  • Energetic, hands-on; able to drive change and continuous improvement

  • Experience applying Six Sigma/Lean manufacturing principles

  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with production employees, peers and manufacturing management

  • Ability to work with minimal guidance and direction

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience in a union environment is preferred

  • Strong computer and system skills, including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office

  • Must be willing to work first or second shift as well as required overtime
