PDS Tech Inc Mechanical Technician - Sr 1 in Irvine, California

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Technician - Sr 1, in Irvine, CA.

Description (Mechanical Technician):

Mid-Level candidate will be on a team of technicians performing qualification testing of pilot control electro-mechanical systems.

•Be responsible of qualification testing through all (executing, reporting, and troubleshooting).

•Install, rig and torque pilot control systems for purpose testing operational limits.

•Perform Acceptance Testing (ATP) including mechanical rigging and monitoring of electrical sensors.

•Perform vibration and EMI, vibration, limit load, ultimate load testing in outside labs followed under minimal supervision from engineering.

•Document test results clearly.

•Support electro-mechanical assembly & fabrication to support prototype builds, structural and cable assembly.

•Modify, upgrade or rework engineering hardware per engineering specifications/drawings.

•Troubleshoot test stands for optimum functionality including calibrations.

•Communicate effectively status with leadership on issues that may affect testing.

•Apply mechanical theories such as torque arm.

•Overtime and or weekend work may be required.


•High school graduate.

•Minimum of 5 years experience working in environmental or test labs including related equipment & setups.

•Familiar with RTCA/DO-160 testing which covers standard procedures and environmental test criteria for testing airborne electronic equipment.

•Proficient with hand/power tools (force gauges, load cells, torque cells and crimping tools).

•Proficient with electrical gauges and equipment (Mulit-meter DMMs, power supply and soldering equipment).

•Strong documentation skills to support test report documentation, test procedures and instructions.

•Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

•Must possess extensive experience using hand and power tools, measurement tools/gauges and equipment.

•Must be organized and capable of keeping track of multiple tasks.

•Proficient Computer Skills for documentation support (Excel / Word).

•Must possess a valid driver’s license. (NO DRIVING is required for this contract role)

•Able to lift 50 lbs.

Additional Preferred Skills:

•Previous writing of Qualification Test Procedures (QTP)

•Extensive experience in building cable harnesses from blue prints (solder / crimp).
