PDS Tech Inc Designer II in Louisville, Colorado

PDS Tech Inc. is seeking a Designer II - 3D Scanning Metrologist, in Louisville, CO.


  • Interface with manufacturing engineers to support manufacturing and fabrication applications which require metrology support.

  • Work with Manufacturing and Quality Engineers to develop and implement precision measuring methodologies in support of fabrication for the Dream Chaser vehicle while following established design and documentation standards.

  • Analyze measured data to help engineering teams to verify final system requirements, ensure the integrity of data, and be able to provide services across multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining both project schedules and measurement dependability.

  • Identify and document subtle alignment issues early, address them quickly, and provide constructive feedback and recommendations on plans developed by others.


  • Requires a BA/BS in Related Field or equivalent work history.

  • Advanced knowledge in Optical Metrology and Alignment, along with and understanding of the following areas: Dimensional Inspection techniques, Quality Engineering, Configuration Management, and Manufacturing processes.

  • Advanced experience using Spatial Analyzer software, using theodolites, laser trackers, portable coordinate measuring scanarms, and the ability to effectively interpret results. photogrammetry experience is preferred.

  • Previous experience with military contracting and working to MIL and ANSI specifications for documentation of design efforts preferred.

  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing course (ASME Y14.5M) preferred.

  • 3+ years with detailed design utilizing 3D CAD software, (NX CAD software preferred.

  • Previous experience with Windchill PLM software is preferred.

  • Proficiency using MS Office and Windows operating systems is required. Experience with web browsers and email applications in and inter/intranet environment is recommended.

  • Must be able to read and use measuring instruments such as machinist scales, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment.

  • The ability to “reverse engineer” an existing part or assembly.
