PDS Tech Inc Mechanical Asembler in Medford, New York

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Assembler in Medford, NY.


  • Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical or mechanical production sub-assembly and assembly operations of a skilled nature to build up and assemble difficult and complex units

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Determines methods and sequence of assembly operations where complete information is not readily available or follows assembly shop and production operations sheets, wire lists, samples, blue prints, schematics and verbal instructions to perform a wide variety of assembly operations

  • Utilizes small hand tools such as soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and hammers

  • Identifies and selects components to be integrated into sub-assembly and assembly units

  • Makes own set-ups, alignments and adjustments maintaining tolerance in accordance with instructions

  • Disassembles, modifies, reworks, refurbishes, reassembles, and tests units as required

  • May provide work leadership to lower level assemblers through assignment or work review of progress and monitoring of results

Basic Requirements:

  • Experience with hand tools (ie. Working with cars, building furniture, assembling products, really anything that they had to use a screwdriver/hammer/wrech for)

  • Experience can be any type of mechanics and/or those who have worked in warehouse/manufacturing and wanted to move toward assembly (still must have experience with hand tools)

  • Will have one on one training for job Torque Wrench experience not necessary, will train along any other specialized tool

  • Person must be able to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Person will be on assembly line

  • All work will be inspected by another person (Inspection points in place)


  • Candidate must be highly skilled with basic hand tools (mil spec crimpers, toque drivers and other calibrated hand tools included)

  • Experience with assembly of surface mount and thru-hole components on circuit boards, per JSTD 001/IPC 610 preferred

  • Experience with chassis wire routing, lacing/tying/harnessing per WHMA-620 preferred

  • Must have experience with mechanical assembly and integration of sensitive electronics assemblies within a mechanical enclosure

  • Familiar with ESD precautions in electronics manufacturing

  • Current or previous certificate (within past 5 years) - 1 or the other is acceptable, if neither will be required to pass assembly test J-STD-001

  • Class 3 (preferred) WHMA-620 Class 3 (preferred)

Education and/or experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
