PDS Tech Inc Sr. Aerodynamics Engineer in Mojave, California

Aerodynamicist to join a fast-paced, innovative team working on the cutting edge of commercial spaceflight technology. To qualify for this position, the Sr. Aerodynamics Engineer should have a graduate degree in Aerospace Engineering and at least 8 years’ experience in the file including a strong background in aerodynamics, computational fluid dynamics and thermal analysis. Primary Responsibilities:

Ensures regulatory and internal company requirements related to loads are met as support for entry into commercial service

Development of loads even simulation models and support validation of handling qualities, stability and control criteria for suborbital space missions

Review of test limitations, flight test plans and procedures, flight readiness reviews, mission control room support and post-flight analysis

Development of standardized analysis and reporting tools

Updates models from data collected during vehicle or component testing or from analytical tools

Develops and substantiates P&HQ criteria and requirements for prototype aircraft with unconventional configurations

Develops and maintains database of Performance and Handling Qualities (P&HQ) for use in analysis of aircraft and spacecraft during all flight phases

Works cross-functionally with other engineering groups to ensure the proper design application for Performance and Handling Qualities (P&HQ) requirement

Job Requirements

Graduate Degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field with at least 8 years’ experience in aerodynamics development

Experience in the conduct of flight tests including familiarity with standard flight test practices and safety process

Experience with full aircraft analysis including transonic; supersonic and launch vehicle analysis preferred

CATIA V5 experience preferred

Experience in wind-tunnel and flight test aerodynamic model validation

Advanced level skills with Linux, Python, Simulink, MATLAB, Fortran, C, C++ and software development best practices

Experience with FUN3D, NSU3D, Pointwise, and/or similar RANS and gridding methods
