PDS Tech Inc Sr. Systems Engineer in Mojave, California

Looking for a systems engineer to help with aircraft-to-launch vehicle integration, interface development, and requirements verification. This position includes evaluation of a broad range of technical data. Position will provide technical guidance for spacecraft projects. Candidates must have strong operational background, facilities experience, and relevant experience in space systems development.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Requirements development, including writing requirements and verification statements

  • Develop requirement verification activities

  • Perform requirement verification activities

  • Help manage systems engineering tools and processes

  • Develop engineering tools, as needed, for analysis to complete their tasking.

  • Provide technical guidance for specific projects within the larger program with responsibility for technical performance of the project.

  • Analyze technical data for various projects, such as subsystem and component designs, system analyses, system margins, test and operations plans

  • Evaluate risks and risk mitigation plans to determine if the risks are appropriate and risk mitigations are adequate

  • Regular and comprehensive communication to the Engineering Director on a weekly and monthly basis

  • Contribute to the integration of complex aerospace systems

  • Travel, as needed, to support the Director and/or the department

Sr. Systems and Integration Engineer to provide systems engineering, requirements management, verification and validation (V&V) coordination, and element/system level integration support. The selected candidate will:

  • Coordinate and interface with the Chief Engineer and the Element Lead Systems Engineer, as well as participate in reviews, meetings, working groups, task teams, and trade studies.

  • Lead and/or support element and/or subsystem design trades and analysis necessary to validate the requirements, maintain control of the design baseline, and continually track compliance of the design to the requirements during design, development, testing and evaluation.

  • Lead and/or support the development of key systems engineering products to support program/project milestones and the subsequent activities where these products are assessed and matured.

  • Create and maintain system-level performance budgets, functional and physical architectures, and interface control documents

  • Define and monitor technical performance metrics

  • Develop and maintain system analysis documentation

  • Evaluate contractor deliverables including requirements and specifications as well as verification of allocated end item specification requirements.

  • Develop integrated schedules and other tracking mechanisms to manage the work and identify risks and opportunities.

  • Communicate issues, best practices, lessons-learned and other technical positions related to systems engineering, requirement management, and V&V practices and procedures.

  • Identify, develop, review, and/or approve requirements supporting integration and test, and checkout events including Identify, describe and communicate potential risks related to the products, processes and interactions in the V&V program.

  • Develop and mature concept of operations documents

  • Derive top-level specifications from internal and external stakeholder analysis

  • Author specifications and perform requirements analysis, decomposition, and flow down

  • Plan and support execution of requirements verification and validation

  • Create and maintain system-level performance budgets, functional and physical architectures, and interface control documents

  • Define and monitor technical performance metrics

  • Develop and maintain system analysis documentation

  • Defining verification requirements, verification planning, verification implementation, compliance assessment, requirement closure and validation implementation.

  • Performing vertical integration among vehicle-level, element, subsystem and component products.

Education/Certification Required

  • A minimum of a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field A minimum of 15+ years of experience required.

Experience

Skills and experience should demonstrate:

  • S. in Aerospace or Systems Engineering

  • Experience across the product life cycle (pre-conceptual design through field support)

  • Experience with one-or-more requirement management tools (e.g. DOORS, DOORS NG, Jama, Integrity, etc.)

  • Experience with proposal development

  • Experience working collaboratively in small teams on fast-paced projects

  • History of developing systems from clean-sheet designs with partially defined higher-level requirements and changing criteria, figures-of-merit, and objectives

  • Exhibit excellent judgement and be comfortable making high-quality and high-velocity decisions

  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills
