PDS Tech Inc Thermal Engineer in Nagoya, Japan

In this role as a Thermodynamics Specialist Engineer, you will complete thermal and ventilation design regarding equipment and structure environment including in case of fire. This includes all thermal, ventilation and FPS system design aspects and interfaces within the FPS team, all the other engineering teams and testing teams as well as interfacing with the MHI, DER, FPS supplier and partners in order to achieve the correctness and completeness necessary for design and certification of the thermal and FPS of the aircraft program.

Work Location:

The primary work location will be in Nagoya, Japan. However, you may be requested to travel to Seattle and Moses Lake (Washington State, USA) periodically where aircraft flight testing is performed. You may also be requested to travel to hot and cold ground/flight test locations (i.e. Arizona, Florida and Alaska, USA) to attend specific tests supporting design issues solving or type certification validation.

Scope of Work:

  1. Basic work scope is to lead the development and finalization of aircraft T/C design, compliant to CS25.1301(a) / CS25.1309(a) (b) and all other applicable Requirements. This basic work scope also includes;

  2. Preparing and managing the sub-team schedule and reporting on the progress to Team Leader/Group Leader,

  3. Managing the relationship among FPS team, other engineering/testing team and external partners,

  4. Coordinating with the other related ATA members of company,

  5. Preparation and review of Certification documents and other related technical reports or documents.

  6. Discuss with team members, related other group members, DER qualified consultants, partners and determine the approach for all identified technical issues in order to show compliance with requirement of thermal environment and ventilation.

  7. This activity includes;

  8. Analysis and model validation of thermal and ventilation behavior and environment in aircraft level.

  9. Preparation and review of Thermal Environment and Ventilation Documents (Design, Analysis, Test plan, Test spec. Test result, Requirement and Certification documents, etc),

  10. Preparation and review of V & V documents (Validation Matrix and Verification Matrix),

  11. Coordination with partners related to design and other certification activities,

  12. Review of equipment, system and aircraft level requirement documents to confirm consistency among each requirements,

  13. Leading Verification activities and conducting the demonstration of compliance activities,

  14. Performing and supporting Design Change activities,

  15. Leading problem solving and troubleshooting activities that includes supporting safety flight and design changes.

  16. Lead/ Support/ participate in authority (JCAB, FAA, EASA, TCCA) meetings to present/ discuss company positions to the above issues and related rules, Issue papers and CRI/CAI.

  17. Other tasks include:

  18. Interface with the testing team in Nagoya, Seattle Engineering Office and Moses Lake Flight Test Center to follow the Thermal Environment and Ventilation tests conducted and attending the tests. Your responsibilities will include participating with the FPS team to prepare and/or review responses to ground/flight test problem reports, and review of test data and ground and flight test plans and test reports,

  19. Assist with identifying problems, adjusting and repairing systems during the troubleshooting process according to specifications, technical drawings, manuals and established procedures,

  20. Act as an interface for the identified FPS ATA with the involved design specialists and partners,

  21. Be prepared to advise department members about professional knowledge in the thermal and ventilating design and assessment as well as providing expertized and systematic contribution to resolve challenges raised during any design reviews and testing activities,

  22. Being prepared to work as a team member in a multi-cultural and international working environment at the Headquarter based in Japan,

  23. Utilizing interpersonal and communication techniques, working in a team environment as well as identifying potential issues with the ability to plan and implement short and long term goals in aircraft development.
