Project Manager-Infrastructure

Direct Hire

Location: New Haven, CT

Hours: M-F (8 to 5)

Status: Must be a US Citizen

Description:

This is a Direct Hire need for the client. They are looking for a PM with at least five (5) years of IT experience.

Manager prefers local candidates who can be onsite 2-3 days a week, as needed. However, Manager is open to a potential remote / hybrid work schedule based on candidates and his / her skill sets and demographics.

Job Summary:

The IT Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific EIS projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. This includes managing resources and coordinating the efforts of team members, business stakeholders, and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan, and within defined timelines and budget.

The Project Manager will direct multiple projects involving one or more project teams utilizing Mostly Waterfall, Iterative, or Hybrid methodologies. They are responsible for the adoption and adaption of project management methodologies based on the context of the project and selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.

The project manager will also define the projects objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. Responsible for preparing and communicating status reports on the health of the project.

Responsibilities:

  1. Define, document, and successfully complete projects.

  2. Adopt and adapt project management methods and tools, selecting appropriately from plan-driven/predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches.

  3. Ensure that effective project control, change control, risk management, design, development, and testing processes are maintained.

  4. Monitor and control resources, revenue, and capital costs against the project budget, and manage expectations of all project stakeholders.

  5. Align project objectives with company goals, and make sure the project team is clear on objectives.

  6. Work with Solution Managers to staff initiatives with appropriate skill sets.

  7. Communicate project status, progress, and issues effectively and appropriately, including periodic report creation and distribution.

  8. Drive vendor selection activities, using established RFP process.

  9. Provide ongoing facilitation and coaching that enables the team to excel at Agile development.

  10. Manage sprint velocity-related metrics and goals.

  11. Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution while promoting joint accountability for results and problem solving.

  12. Work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Skills:

  1. Expertise in project management methodologies and techniques with proven teamwork and influential skills including Waterfall, Iterative, Agile, and Hybrid methodologies.

  2. Documented ability to contain project scope, and act as owner for all project outcomes.

  3. Experience of working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  4. Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients and other departments.

  5. Experience working in a highly fast paced team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  6. Experience implementing technology projects.

Technical Knowledge:

  1. Competency in Microsoft applications including Visio, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.

  2. Primary Experience with PPM Tools such as Excel and MS Project with Secondary experience (Nice to have) Agile tools such as Azure Dev Ops, JIRA.

  3. Basic Technical understanding of the digital platform, cloud applications, web services, server-side components and APIs is a plus, nice to have.

Education: BA or BS in Business, Project Management, Computer Science, or another business-related field.

Experience: At least 5 years of IT project management experience.

Certifications: PMP Certification, Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and/or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certifications is a plus, nice to have.
