PDS Tech Inc Industrial Designer in Thief River Falls, Minnesota

PDS Tech is looking for an Industrial Designer in Thief River Falls, MN or a remote opportunity:

SUMMARY:

Create design concepts for existing and new products to develop attractive, innovative, ergonomic, user-friendly designs.

RESPONSIBILITIES: - List the job’s essential or most important functions and responsibilities. Include all important aspects of the job -- whether

Develop appealing design concept sketches. Concepts include vehicle exterior, occupant compartment and cargo areas, accessories etc.

Work with engineering, product management, manufacturing engineering and sales to develop and evaluate design concepts for vehicles and accessories.

Research design trends for similar and adjacent products and apply research to design concepts.

Present designs to various internal departments as design reviews and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.

Arrange meetings and liaising with engineers and other departments, including marketing, to discuss and negotiate appropriate production processes, costs and commercial issues.

Research production materials and manufacturing processes and apply this knowledge to design concepts.

Develop CAD models, detail drawings and specifications for prototype components and vehicles.

Build prototype components and vehicles.

CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Technical knowledge regarding manufacturing processes, materials, dimensional control, and hands on creative ability.

Commercial, visual and spatial awareness are critical

Skilled with 3-D CAD, such as Unigraphics NX and other relevant industrial design software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Keyshot etc…

Communication skills and ability build and maintain working relationships is critical.

Ability to cope with the pressure of due dates/project schedules

Knowledge and experience with prototype processes, such as metalworking, 3-D Printing, High-Density foam/woodworking, fiberglass and hand finishing of show parts.

Ability to manage a program.

Ability to complete a program from concept/sketch to production

Ability to build accurate full scale clay models of your designs is a plus.

EDUCATION:

Applicants should have studied industrial design majoring in transportation/automotive design with 5+ years of studio experience in an automotive/powersports/vehicle studio
