PDS Tech Inc Manufacturing Technician in Tonawanda, New York
PDS Tech Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Technician, in Tonwanda, NY.
The Manufacturing Technician works in the Tonawanda factory and assists with production of inner-diameter (ID) and outer-diameter (OD) coated tubes.
Manufacturing technicians are responsible for working safely and efficiently as a team to meet the site goals.
This role directly impacts our ability to meet safety, quality and production goals.
Manufacturing Technicians will report to a Production Supervisor and will also work closely with the Lead Manufacturing Technicians, 3rd party contractors, Quality and Maintenance Department.
Work each day with the understanding that safety is our number one priority. Escalate any safety issues and stop employees or contractors who are working unsafely.
Trim, straighten and evaluate quality of tubes before packaging.
Saw Blade Change.
Use of 10 ton overhead cranes and motorized industrial vehicles to move the tubing to the work area.
Complete paperwork at required frequency, including but not limited to, Standard Work and housekeeping sheets.
Attend monthly Safety training and additional department trainings (HR, Quality, and Maintenance).
Complete Company Operating System Fundamentals training course and additional required trainings.
Actively participate in incident investigations, as required.
Serve as an active participant at required production, communication and learning meetings.
Actively participate on improvement teams and complete safety and cell audits as required.
Contribute to the site’s continuous improvement culture by actively looking for opportunities and submitting 2 suggestions a month.
Assist as necessary with Safety Compliance Items in a timely manner, including safety permits and inspections. Perform procedures while being observed for safety and accuracy purposes.
Assist Maintenance with projects, as needed.
Keep your work area clean by completing daily sweeps of assigned cell/ work area.
High school diploma or GED.
Must be able to follow pre-established procedures and supervisor instructions for all aspects of the job.
Must be able to work all shifts and have ability to flex schedule as necessary to adjustment for fluctuations in demand (swing shifts: range from 8-12 hours).
Some technical training or a two year degree.
5 years of experience in a production manufacturing environment.
Experienced in Six Sigma and Lean Principles.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, etc.).
Good mechanical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
