PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Instructor in Troy, MI.
The company is looking for a Heavy Equipment instructor to facilitate competency based learning and assessment to a diverse range of learners.
This individual must be highly motivated, willing to accept new challenges, and be able to complete tasks with minimal direction.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in operating heavy equipment and its maintenance as well as instructor/facilitator experience.
Plan, prepare and deliver instruction of assigned courses using a variety of teaching methods to facilitate the learning of participants.
Must know, or when necessary, acquaint themselves with the rules, regulations and standards for the safe operation of specific training topic being delivered.
Establish and maintain positive, professional and collaborative relationships with internal and external partners including co-workers, employers and professional organizations.
Accurately record and report participant learning and assessment results so that participant records are consistently up to date and recorded in the company learning management system.
Uphold a good safety record that is based on consistent implementation of safety standards.
All other duties as assigned.
Essential functions of this job include:
The ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
Ability to teach students in a classroom setting, outdoor location and/or online.
Able to obtain acknowledgement from the student operator that he/she can implement the training received.
Four years’ experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment.
Good safety record based on consistent implementation of safety standards.
Ability to acquire and maintain occupational certification or licensing for operation of and instruction of heavy equipment and technology, as required.
Proficient in the operation and knowledge of common equipment used in workshops and industrial environments both stationary and mobile. Examples include: overhead hoisting equipment, skid steer, forklifts, hand/power tools, etc.
Possesses ability to interpret information and familiarize students, concerning the operator safety manual, warning decals and placards.
Familiar with common safety and compliance training courses such as personal fall protection, asbestos awareness, lead awareness, fire extinguisher, etc.
Understanding of teaching methods and learning styles of adult learners.
Intermediate computer skills, including the use of the internet, Microsoft Office products and email.
Strong communication and presentation skills when speaking with groups or individuals.
Must have excellent time management and organizational skills.
Associates degree in heavy equipment or related field
Four years of related occupational experience within the past five years outside the field of education with a high school diploma may be considered in lieu of a degree
Prior instructor or facilitator experience.
