PDS Tech Inc. is seeking an Avionics Engineer, in Wichita, KS.
Principal responsibilities include design and integration of aircraft avionics and electrical systems for Special Missions modifications.
Requires coordination with multiple technical stakeholders.
In this position, the candidate will work closely with IPT members (such as Program Management, Technical Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Supply Chain, & Quality Assurance) to achieve the desired design requirements and objectives.
Intelligence/Surveillance/Reconnaissance, Aerial Survey, Air Ambulance, Flight Inspection, Float Operations, Parachute, Maritime Patrol, Search & Rescue, Training, Utility/Transport.
Prepare engineering drawings for avionics and electrical system interface wiring using computer based drafting tools (CATIA/CCD, Mentor Graphics and/or IAI HarnesSys).
Utilize electronic test equipment to verify avionics and electrical systems meet design requirements, and/or for system troubleshooting in the lab and on aircraft.
Prepare engineering trade studies, functional test procedures, certification plans, ground and flight test plans, certification reports, and other engineering documents.
Write technical descriptions of subject matter pertinent to design or test requirements. Includes descriptions of supplier parts, test or rigging specifications, etc.
Assist with the evaluation and analysis of avionics and electrical system design for completion of function hazard assessments and system safety assessments.
Assist with the development, design, testing and certification documentation for new or modified printed circuit board modules for aircraft.
At least 2 years of related experience
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent industry experience) in: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, or related technical degree.
A&P and/or pilot’s license is beneficial
Military experience is beneficial
Ability to work under only general direction.
Must be able to work independently to complete a project or work and coordinate as part of team assigned to complete a specific project on schedule.
Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience with electronic test equipment desired.
Electronic drafting experience with CATIA-CADAM Drafting (CCD), Mentor Graphics and/or IAI HarnesSys desired.
C/C++ and assembly programming experience or coursework desired.
Design knowledge of electrical bonding criteria, thermal cooling requirements for electronic equipment, EMI shielding, and High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF) / Indirect Effects of Lightning (IEL) installation criteria is considered a plus.
Experience with avionics and electrical system design to the requirements of CFR 14 Parts 23 & 25 is desired.
Experience with 3D modeling and drafting using CATIA V5 file based/Enovia and/or CATIA V6/Enovia is beneficial.
Experience with Special Missions and/or Military systems and equipment is beneficial.
Experience with the Beechcraft King Air and Citation Longitude is beneficial.
Knowledge of FAA and/or Military processes and procedures to support certification and system qualification is beneficial.
