PDS Tech Inc Product Development – Design Specialist in Wichita, Kansas

PDS Tech is seeking candidates for a Product Development – Design Specialist position in Wichita, KS

Position Summary: To know the Company design engineering processes, methods, and tools used within a specific aircraft program and apply that knowledge by creating or modifying engineering data utilizing a CAD system and supporting PLM applications with high quality and efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create or modify routine to moderate drafting and modeling tasks of aircraft structures and/or systems from concept phase to final design for manufacturing utilizing CATIA V5, VPM, and PDMLink with high quality and efficiency.

  • Create or modify technical documents such as: Bill of Material, Engineering Change Notes, Technical Memos, etc. within SAP and/or PDM applications.

  • Create, maintain, or modify a variety of spreadsheets, documents, and presentations related to project efforts.

  • Effectively estimate, schedule and prioritize work flow.

  • Check engineering data to high quality standards.

  • Interface engineering requirements with customers and suppliers with a professional attitude.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assists with preparation of change documents and modification paperwork using Company computer based toolsets (SAP, PRIMES, PDMLink, etc.).

  • Administer and monitor work packages through the release process.

  • Perform mathematical calculations in area of assignment which may include positional tolerancing (ASME or ISO std.)

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and work in a team environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Speak the English language at a minimum Level 3 per the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) scale.

  • Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to perform work activity tasks with minimal direction once sufficient training has occurred.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and government regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Experience in metallic and/or composite structural design is a must.

  • A strong computer background, including MS Office application experience (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Applied knowledge of drafting methods, techniques and procedures (GD&T, ASME, ANSI, ISO). Knowledge of Company drafting processes a plus.

  • Knowledge of machine shop practices, equipment and capabilities.

  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

  • CATIA V5 experience is a must with average 8,000 hours of usage.

  • Experience in VPM and PDMLink is a strong preference.

  • Programming skills is a plus (VB, VBA, C++, etc).

Education / Special Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years aircraft experience.

  • Minimum educational background required is a High School Diploma. Prefer Associates Degree in a technical field (i.e. Engineering) with concentration in drafting and modeling using a CAD system (preferably CATIA).
